Mr. Scola is the founding partner of the Law Office of John A. Scola, PLLC. Mr. Scola is an experienced litigator specializing in employment law and significant personal injury. Over the course of his career, Mr. Scola has become a litigation leader in the field of employment law. In particular, Mr. Scola specializes in employment cases against the City of New York. Each year, Mr. Scola earn millions of dollars for our clients with a particular focus on the City of New York, the Department of Corrections and the New York City Police Department (“NYPD”).

In 2021, Mr. Scola had the highest NYPD employment verdict of $872,000 on behalf of a Lieutenant who was retaliated against for filing a discrimination complaint. In 2022, he had the second highest NYPD settlement in the case of Sharon Balli v. City of New York et al which settled pre-discovery for $800,000. Mr. Scola obtained the highest NYPD employment settlement in 2023 in the matter of Ammy Ventura v. City of New York et al which settled in December 2023, pre-discovery, for more than $1,000,000. Our firm also leads multiple class actions lawsuits against the Defendant City of New York for the discriminatory promotional process for Asian Captains above the rank of Captain (see Ahmad Alli et al v. City of New York et. al. Kings County Index No,: 514002/2022) and a Hispanic Male Detective Class action for the NYPD’s systemic failure to promote Hispanic detective 3rd Grade to the rank of Detective 2nd Grade (see Lamberto Ramirez et al v. City of New York et. al. New York County Index No,: 161173/2023).

In addition to his practice as an attorney, Mr. Scola is an Adjunct Professor of Law at New York Law School, where he has taught Negotiations, Counseling and Interviewing for more than five (5) years. Mr. Scola has earned numerous honors and distinctions as an attorney such as being named to Super Lawyers, Seven Figure Litigators, Elite Lawyers,  the National Trial Lawyers Association as a member of the Top 40 under 40, which is an award given to the Top 40 attorneys under 40 years of age in New York state. Recently, Mr. Scola has been honored by Americas's Top 100 High Stakes Litigators. This award is given to attorneys who regularly litigate cases with more than $2,000,000 in potential damages.
