Bio

Steve Buckingham is a lawyer and mediator in Greenville, whose practice focuses on business and commercial disputes, including partnership dissolutions. He is a solo practitioner, having started his own firm on January 1, 2016.

In 2003, Buck graduated from Furman, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a B.A. in political science. In 2006, he graduated from the University of Richmond School of Law, magna cum laude, during which time he served as the editor-in-chief of the Richmond Law Review.

From 2006-07, Buck was a law clerk to the chief federal district judge for the Eastern District of Virginia. In fall 2007, he returned to Greenville where he embarked on private practice.

Since 2007, Buck has been an active member of the Greenville community. He is a former member and board chairman of the Julie Valentine Center; he is a graduate of Leadership Greenville Class 39, for which he served as the class speaker; and he is a graduate of Furman’s Diversity Leadership Initiative. He is also a graduate of Leadership South Carolina.

Buck is currently a member of: the board of directors for the Greenville Chamber, for which he serves as general counsel; the board of directors for Rebuild Upstate, of which he is a past-board chairman; and the local chapter of the American Inns of Court, for which he serves as president.

With regard to personal details, in 2012, Buck married his wife, Catie, who is a social worker by training. They have two dogs—Roosevelt (Teddy, not Franklin) and Pippa—both of which are Humane Society specials. Buck is an avid consumer of Scotch whiskys (Islay), German beers (pilseners), American wines (old vine zinfandel), and Caribbean tobacco. He has the ambition to fish much more often than he does.
